Delighted, kept its aged look but nice and clean.
Pictures showing the floor before cleaning and the finish after cleaning and sealing. The floor was uncovered as part of a large renovation but had considerable amounts of carpet glue, many years of dirt and a lot of paint splatter.
This was a beautiful hallway floor that had been covered for years. A previous owner of the house had decided to glue a carpet over this lovely tiled floor. It has quite a lot of surface damage but the home owner wanted to keep the character of the house and get the floor cleaned and sealed.
Our client found the floor and wanted to get it looking its best. There was a lot of dirt from renovations, carpet glues and a lot of paint to be removed.
We began by stripping the glues and solids from the floor surface, Once the majority had been removed we were able to apply an Alkaline cleaning solution and begin the deep clean. It wasn’t a big area and had lots of edges so we used our oscillating machine to work the cleaning solutions and scrub the floor. The tiles were incredibly porpous and were holding a lot of dirt. It took quite a few cleaning cycles with the combination of our oscillating machine and our contra rotating scrub machine, which both scrubs the floor with its brushes and extracts the dirty water to get the floor clean. We were then able to apply our Ph neutral cleaning solution for the floors final clean.
After a few days we returned to take moisture meter readings to see if the floor was ready to be sealed. This is absolutely critical when applying seals to ensure the moisture is at an acceptable level. After the all clear to proceed, we applied a solvent based colour enhancer here to deepen the colours and provide protection to the floor. It also helps the homeowner to maintain the floor and keep it look good. The picture shows the floor mid way through the application of the first coat. You can see a huge difference with the red especially, it really helps to bring back the colour. We applied a number of coats to give the floor great protection.
