Newbury Marble Floor Damaged and in Need of full restoration

Here is part of a Marble floor restoration in Newbury, West Berkshire we completed recently. The floor was looking tired, there was lots of acid etch damage throughout which causes dull spots ruining the gorgeous shine, 

Marble Floors with a polished high shine finish can look amazing . This marble floor was in a kitchen & utility room where damage can commonly occur from acids found in a kitchen such as Fruit juices, wine and vinegar and cleaning products often stored in a utility room such as toilet cleaners and limescale removers that can contain acids that attack the calcium in a marble floor.

All floors can get dirty over time and benefit from a professional deep clean, in addition it can become damaged such as etching and benefit from a restoration. We can help restore your marble floors back to looking great again.

We often get calls from clients that find out the hard way that the wrong type of cleaners can cause damage to Marble. Also, every day foods and drinks found in kitchens can etch the marble floors. Here we found that small drops of Lemon Barley squash concentrate was being spilled in front of the fridge whilst drinks were being prepaared. These small was  

This etch damage had changed the surface leaving a discoloured dull patch that even felt slightly rough when you run your finger over it. The marble floor required honing and re-polishng in order to restore the damaged area. 

Once the area was prepared and ready to begin; we started with a deep clean of the floor to remove the dirt, grit and residues from the floor. We then moved onto our honing stage. We honed the marble using our rotary machine. Most of the damage was removed with a 400 grit resin with some areas needing to go as low as 200 grit to fully remove them, Once the damage had been removed we worked through the grits up to a full powder polish high shine finish. The floor now had a beautiful blemish free finish with etch marks and light surface scratches removed. 

Once the Marble restoration was completed the floor was treated to an impregnator to help keep it looking great. This was machine buffed to finish.
